1. Who is responsible for your data
The operator of NautiBay.com is the data controller for the personal data described here. Until a company is registered, the controller is the individual operating the site; you can reach the controller at port@nautibay.com.
2. What data we collect
- Account data: email address, name (or display name), and — if you provide it — phone number and messaging-app details.
- Listing data: everything you type into a listing (description, location, price, specifications, contact note) and the photos you upload.
- Usage and technical data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and actions taken on the site, collected through server logs and privacy-friendly analytics.
- Preferences: your chosen language and items you save to "Favorites".
3. Why we use it and the legal basis
- To provide the service — create your account, publish your listings, show listings to other users, and let users contact each other (performance of a contract with you).
- To keep the platform safe — prevent and investigate spam, fraud, and abuse, and moderate content (our legitimate interest, and compliance with the law).
- To understand and improve the site — aggregate, non-identifying analytics (our legitimate interest).
- To contact you about your account or a listing — for example a confirmation email or a service message (performance of a contract, or our legitimate interest).
4. Who your data is shared with
Other users: the contact details and content of a listing you publish are visible to other signed-in users, so they can respond to your listing. Do not put anything in a listing that you are not willing to share.
Service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract and only on our instructions:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and photo storage.
- Vercel — website hosting and delivery.
- An email provider — to send account and confirmation emails.
- A privacy-friendly analytics provider — to produce aggregate site statistics.
We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of NautiBay, our users, or the public.
5. International transfers
Where a service provider processes data outside your country, we rely on that provider's approved safeguards (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect it.
6. How long we keep it
Account and listing data: while your account is active, and for a short period afterwards to handle disputes, fraud, and legal obligations, then deleted or anonymised.
Server logs and analytics: kept for a limited period and then deleted or aggregated.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, and receive a copy in a portable format. You can also withdraw any consent you gave, and complain to your local data-protection authority.
To use any of these rights, write to port@nautibay.com. You can delete your account and its data at any time from your account settings or by asking us.
8. Cookies and analytics
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences. We use analytics that do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not run third-party advertising.
9. Children
NautiBay is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors; if you believe a minor has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will post a notice on the site and update the date at the top.
